My popcorn never tasted so good
D  8)

I just watched it yesterday, and then to my surprise , I received it as a gift today. It's a great documentary, I recommend checking it out. I watched it on amazon for $4.

Is it just me that I thought it should be called "Hey, look at my cool neve desk" instead?

of course at first....you could believe that, but I think, in the end, it's more about the way of making music.

You know, people together in the same room, a bit of rehearsal and..1-2-3- tape rolling.

I like when Rupert explain how his class A design and you see Dave's thinking "what is he talking about ?"

I think that the film and the music are honest and to say the least I enjoyed it very much.

Sure, don't get me wrong. I liked it too. I actually watched it twice.
However,  i do believe that all these references to the desk was a bit of exaggeration. I don't say that it's not a great desk
but if Dave Grohl hadn't bought the desk, the doc might had been a bit different, if that makes sense...

The first half was great and amazing!!  Seems like the back half of the movie theme was "I have a Neve console, now all of my records are as good as Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty, Rick Springfield, Fogerty"      ::)

;D of course,

It's like most of us when we get a new (expensive) toy, we have to show off a little  8)

The studio paid like 75000$ in the 70's for the Neve, I would like to know at what price Dave got it  I bet that the owner of the studio is a happy retired person !

What an investment $75,000.
Make how many times that for 40 years.
and than sell it for a profit.

Well there's a little to it than that, it sucked a lot of power in the last 38 years, required a lot of maintenance and according to an inflation calculator cost the equivalent of $323K in todays money.

Watched the movie with my wife the other night, thought it was good. Kind of silly the way they used the clip with Rupert I thought but the overall vibe was good.

I bought the download off the website and thought it was pretty sweet. Yeah, of course they had to show off their gear, but most likely it is because of how sentimental in value that board is for all of those people involved with the movie. Like..that's the last remaining piece of musical history that's still left with them. I like how they interviewed Mr. Neve, that little clip was great! The decline, quick rise, then slow painful downfall of the analog recording industry was really a cool story line to me. And I'm all about rap and hip-hop, so that says something.

By the way Mr. Rupert Neve thinks we are all out of our minds for loving his earlier gear.. Also having dealt with desks like this personally they are very tempermental.

I am really interested in any info in explaining or detailing the mic pre/EQ stage from this desk.
I know that its a 8028 desk, and can see that it uses what seems to look like the 1081 mic pre/EQ?
Is there a way of building these to spec and changing the XLR and Jack so they are separate and having an insert in there?
Im new to all this modular Neve stuff.
I have asked and looked around and the only stuff i can find that is available is based on the 1073 but this is confusing to me as some have the EQ and some dont? what do all the numbers represent?
Be great if someone could offer a modular kit to each bit to build your own Neve mixer: Mic Pre/EQ, Aux Section, Fader Section.
I would happily get rid of my Allen & Heath GS3000 32 channel for 16 channels of this!!!

All info welcome

regards

Spence.
