Normal procedure now would be to use an external  current limited power supply connected to +12v and ground, and see what heats up.

Maybe with a thermal camera.

A dead short might not heat up at all, though you did say it was "very low ohmage" so perhaps it might.


Without that you are left with lifting components, cutting tracks etc to try and isolate the short.


Most probably we all did this in the old days, now we're kind of spoilt.
