Hey all! I've been modifying this soundcraft for the last month and so far the mods are:
1. recapped it with higher quality and value caps (89u on phantom, 56u on tl071 input and 220u for just about all other electros)
2. bypass caps on most the front end before the insert
3. recapped and increased values on the power supply as well
4. did a fuller mod on a few channels
So here's the problem. I took it down to test it out at the studio and we were tracking drums, and occasionally the channels would pop and clip pro tools. This pop was random but only happened on the impact transient of the drum hit. One of the other guys mentioned he thought this model has plastic insert jacks (it has separate ones for send and return) and that could be where the problem is, but I just don't know. I would've thought it would be a constant problem if this was the case instead of intermittent? Anyways I just thought I would throw this out there and see if anyone has run into anything similar....
