Hi,

i measured Sowter 3575 secondary DCR, one side have exactly 250ohm, the other 350ohm. Both in series have 600ohm, so i didn't miss the pins or something. I actually have two transformers, both show the same thing.
Is this normal? Seems like something is wrong with transformer or my knowledge.
I was reading somewhere that DCR in some transformers is intentionally not matched if they are intended for varimu use or something.
Any thoughts, i can't believe it?

Hi,

I am sure this is normal, but I can't remember the explanation! SOmething to do with one coil being further away from the core, perhaps(?)

  Kindest regards,

One coil is possibly longer due to being wound further from the core as Andy suggested.

Hi,

is this reading/winding normal for modern transformers? I'm in contact with a guy who winded this kind of transformers himself and their readings are the same. Wouldn't the consequence of so unbalanced winding be anode unbalance in pp circuit?

Miha

It is a 10K nominal winding, 5K each side. You have a 50 ohm difference. This is 1%. That does NO harm.

Mr Sowter knows his stuff.

There are several ways to do it. It is possible to equalize DCR, but DCR is usually NOT an important spec in audio applications.
