That little red thing is a pad switch. You're right. There really isn't a whole lot going on inside this mic at all for $799. And it only comes with a skinny little stand holder so if you want a decent shockmount like a Rycote, tack on another $79, so with sales tax/VAT etc, you're starting to talk about more like $950 US.

I'd like to see some explanation from them as to what they say this resonator does, and am I wrong in thinking this probably makes it hypercardioid as well?
 
Oktava 319 capsule uses plastic disk resonators (bakelite?) to push HF response. It gets darker without them, but in my personal opinion it sounds smoother there too.
I wonder what kind of backplate are they using on this one? Would be interesting to see.
