I look forward to them addressing other cancers using checkpoint inhibitors.

This is one small trial, only 18 people but promising.

Sounds awesome! Hopefully, corporate greed won't prevent these sort of treatments to take place in the future. Big Pharma is in the business of selling drugs, not curing people...

Apparently it's a fairly specific rectal cancer variant that this works against--less than 10% of all yearly cases. Nonetheless, it's amazing news, especially for the thousands of patients who could potentially benefit from this treatment.

Cancer usually is quite specific and requires appropriately specific treatments. But there are some (potential) more generalized advances, too...

The test group had 14 patients. 12 of those finished the treatment and were cured. I was doubting my memory, as a local paper only reported 14 cases...
