Hi!

I'm currently designing a second version of a summing mixer, and some people told me that it would be great to have the inputs wired as in protools, ( 1L&2R, 3L&4R... etc) in the same Db25 connector... rather than have all the lefts in one connector and the rights in the other...

I know the neve8816 has the inputs wired as protools...and i think the Rupert neve summing mixer also.... but the spl mixdream i don't know... maybe they are separated...

¿What wiring do you prefer?

Thanks for your opinions!!

Always stay to the standard L & R in one SubD Connector, like 99% of gear.
Think about multicores ...
Wouldn't be nice to wire SubD25 outputs (always L & R in one connector) to a summing unit splitting to two SubDs.

Hi Silent,

Thanks for answering, ... hmmm  interesting...

Now, as i run the  buses horizontally (bottom layer) in a two layer board to connect all the stages i layed on top layer... i'm worried about length of these traces, and crossing below top layer traces ... as they cross at 90º i think it is not a problem... but many traces are quite long (15- 20 cm).. i usually use 0.8mm thick traces for signals/power... and 1,20mm for summing buses...

Please, take a look to the picture attached in this thread i posted yesterday....

thank you for your help!

Why not use my DB25 summing boards for the  passive summing and DB25 interface and just build your summing amps on the PCB?

Cheers
