Hi All!

After many years asking and learning, this is the result :  a 32+2 input channels, 2+2 out, summing mixer. With balanced inputs and outputs. Switchable selectable output, line driver/trafo, and balanced insert send/return with blend insert control in the output master section.

Awesome!  That's super professional looking.  Looks seemless. The frontpanel is great too.  Have you gotten a chance to use it?

Hi!

Thank you for your comments! :)

I still have to perform studio tests in a professional studio. During the construction i tested the mixer with stereo tracks, and there is a difference between the line driver and transformer output. The trafo has a bit more low end... In general, the sound is clear, open...

Now i'm looking for a new soundcard/interface, because the one i have is very old.. its inputs have level problems and has only unbalanced outputs. Then i will test the summing inputs... and i will upload some tracks...

Hi All!

Here are two tracks to show the transformer and line driver output in action!. ¡Feel the mojo!

MIKROSUM TRANSFORMER OUTPUT

MIKROSUM LINE DRIVER OUTPUT

Expect to hear more tracks to test the blend circuit and more. Moreover, i'm finishing the user manuals, both in spanish and english. 8)

Hi All!

A long time since my last post...

Finally yesterday i could test the MIKROSUM summing mixer in a professional studio: Estudis Ground  Residential Recording Studio at Cornellà del Terri, a little town nearby Girona. http://www.estudisground.com
The control room features an ARK console installed by malcom toft...a great range of compressors: DBx, distressors, and 500 series preamps, eq's.. and of course Protools and SSL MADI converters.

So i run over there, installed the MIKROSUM, and run 24 channels of a protools session already recorded. The track was kind of reggae, pop... and as the summing inputs work at unity gain, all what was needed is to set the output level of the summing mixer, to get a good signal level at the stereo inputs of the converters. No need to change any level of the session tracks. Just different bus output to get into the suming inputs.

The sound of the Mikrosum was great and we could compare the Line driver/Trafo output, and both gave interesting tones results.

I really felt alleviated!! because of all the time invested in developing this audio project, months of worries are all gone!!. Now it becomes more clear i'm in the right track!!

Expect further infos about price (895 euros) and availability and more audio tests!!

Thanks a lot!!

Hi Boji!

For the summing i use inverting summing amplifiers at unity gain. And at the output stage, a fader amplifier with 10db gain, followed by a TI DRV134 line driver or a Lundahl LL2811 transformer. Both selectable with a switch.

Hey , it's the console a customized Trident ?
cheers

Hi R2d2!

The console on which we tested the Mikrosum, is an Ocean audio console build by Malcom Toft, who came to the studio to install it!!  So... yes, in heart it is a trident... ;D

Hi!

I profit my last post to say that i have made some mods to my original design. I have added a monitor section with stereo cue in/out, cue to mix, and talkback. Speaker outputs 1/2 on xlr 3/4 on trs jack. And also headphone output of course!.

20  stereo inputs on db25 connectors

16 on 2 db25 connectors and 4 more on the cue connector.

you can have 14 stereoinputs  and 6 mono inputs or 20 stereo.

Now i have to etch some boards to test the new added features.... 8)

Hi!

Last months i was working on a new summing mixer model prototype: Nanosum 16 16 balanced input channels 2+2 outputs, unbalanced insert send- return. Blend control. Now I'm currently modifying it a bit, to give it a new front panel (half rack size) and an extra stereo expansion input. The pictures you see here are the first prototype. Enjoy!

Hi!

I'm glad you like it!!. I try to make it so it fits your pocket... ;D
Now i'm waiting for some supplier prices/costs, to set the final price...

The final version will be just a little more wide: 172mm wide, and rear to front panel: 180mm.
And the front panel will be 9,5" (half rack), with an extra panel and bracket to fit the unit into a 19" rack.

I already tested it in profesional studios, and it has a nice tone. Stereo image is also good.
