So the latch on a switch for our Inward Connections Vac Rac EQ stopped latching. So now we're resorting to the porqupine tooth pick method. I was hoping maybe someone help me determine the manufacturer of this switch, since there was no obvious markings on it, with the exception of the letter "K" on it. Here is a picture....

So after testing it to see it's configuration I came up with this, I hope this diagram I made makes sense.

So would that make this switch a QPQT??

So what is the difference between a shorting and non-shorting switch, and how can I find out what type of switch I have?

A shorting switch is "make before break". Run an ohm meter between the outer contacts (not the wiper) and if they ever show a short when you move the switch then it's make before break. For most In/out applications like bypassing an equalizer, shorting is not desirable.

AFAIK, ITT F-series ("Schadow"), ALPS, E-Switch, Dialistat, etc pushbuttons were made only in "non-shorting" break-before-make configuration.

[quote author="Brian Roth"]Looks like an E-Switch MTH-series 4PDT switch. ALPS makes one with an identical footprint in the SP series.

Just a FYI, the E-switch MTH series was replaced by the PBH series. I'm guessing ROHS, since they look the same.

Brad, yep, you are correct. I pulled the "MTH" from a Mouser bag which holds switches purchased a couple of years ago.

RoHS is making me insane as I try to keep up with what exists/doesn't, and what model number changes have been made.

[quote author="mediatechnology"]I think it may also be a ToneLuck switch which IIRC E-Switch resells.

Rats! No Dialistat clones there <g>.
