For sale, a TAC Magnum 36 ch, full frame Analog Recording Console
This console is in good condition and was pulled from another studio to be refurbished and put into service, but only got about 80% finished. Now the studio that it was meant for is changing hands and the console will no longer be needed.

TAC 850 PSU was fully refurbished by GRS systems in Hemet CA and works like new. (This in and of itself is about $1K)
Master section and 2 input channels were also refurbished and upgraded by GRS. (These channel strips can be upgraded/refurbed for about $100 each, we planned to do a few at a time). These will be great and reliable for testing/troubleshooting the rest of the console strips.
Meter bridge had a few cards that shorted, so the rest of the cards were unplugged to find the short. As is, the console will work without the meter bridge, or the cards can be replaced/repaired and reconnected.
Patchbays are all connected and we have a ton of cabling for the console with EDAC connectors fanning out to XLRs and DSUBS, all nice stuff, a lot of Mogami/etc, as well as some extra EDAC connectors and pins (there is probably at least another $1k in cabling/connectors that will come with the console)

Also includes the technical service manual/schematics

Cosmetically, the wood side panels have been refinished and the arm rest has been re-upholstered. It looks nice, channels and meter bridge need a little cleaning and there are a few caps off knobs and a couple of switches need replaced. These can be sourced from AML UK.

So, as far as we got with testing was that there is a short somewhere in one (or more) of the input channel strips that blows the -17v rail fuse. Not a big deal to swap the fuse, but the channels need gone through one at a time find the culprit(s), then she should be good to go. Also, all the channels will probably need their pots exercised and some contact cleaner.
(We planned to get it going at least as a 24-30 channel console then start sending out the worst of the channel strips to be refurbished 8 at a time or so.)
The console powers up, but still needs some love and testing, whoever it goes to should be passionate about analog consoles or know a good tech that can help them go through it and get it into service. It will work fine and these are great consoles, but it will be sold as is with no support/warranty/etc.

You will also probably need a box truck of some kind to pick it up. It's about 7feet long and weighs A LOT. We will help wrap and pack it up nicely for it's journey.

$2000 OBO
