I'm looking to build a transducer i could attach to any kind of flat surface and make it vibrate (with the respect to the output of my laptop of course)
I am aware that the results my vary from surface to surface but i'm not pursuing volume, i just need to make the body vibrate at certain frequencies, the bigger range, the better...

The first thing that crossed my mind is the transducer which is used for stimulating plate reverb on input.

I need it to be powerful, and i need it to be "portable", as in, detachable and re-attachable.
One idea was a 12" full-range driver with a silent box behind it... So it actually stimulates the material through - AIR. But i think thats the stupidest way to do it...

I'm not even sure where to begin and what to look for. I'm a newbie as far as electronics go, but I did construct and solder a thing or two in my life.
Also, im not afraid of blowing things up.

thanks for your time

edit:
after further research (english is not my native language) i found its called a "Tactile transducer" and that internet is full of it. :)

This is typically called a "haptic" motor...

However, there are new-ish speaker/voice coil "motors" that attach to surfaces that I recently saw advertised in Audio XPress here in Peterborough NH....
