Tell me about Collins and other old cool vintage tube preamps

I've never owned or heard one, but am very interested to know what's out there. I've read some of the other designs aren't too hard to build. Thinking of putting one together if I can get some more info. Looking for some cool saturation for drums and vocals.

You put some effort in and there are a lot of people here that will give you a lot of help.
But you could spend DAYS reading just what emrr has posted about Collins, RCA, and Langevin preamps. Do a custom search "collins" by "emrr"
Put some more specifics into your question and you'll get some responses.

Collins 6Q-1 preamp is super simple and cool vibe, pretty low headroom
