Testing a Power Supply

Is it OK to test a power supply without a load? I've always just connected my multimeter directly to the supply output. Just finished rebuilding a 1.2A +24Vdc supply and it didn't seem to damage the supply by not connecting a load to test. Any advice on this?

It should work without a load while some designs might oscillate.

The real test is under full load, perhaps use a light load for voltage measurements.
