The Notorious Focusrite VoiceMaster PRO issues lol

Hello all... this is  first post and I must say im really glad I stumbled upon this site. 

Im looking at buying a VoiceMaster Pro which is currently not working correctly. I seen a few different posts on here regarding this but I was hoping for a professional-ish opinion. 

"The unit lights up but exhibits the following problems:
    1. The VU meter doesn't not function properly and MOSTLY stay in the middle even when the
        unit is turned off.
    2. The "main" path does not work. At BEST it cuts in and out once in a while but mostly out and no signal gets through..

Things that seem ok
    3. The lights light up on the channels and the buttons seems to engage and disengage.
    4. The direct through button works."

If i can get this for decent price... is it worth picking up and tryin to fix?      I dont have this in my possession so its all guess work lol.

it;'s worth picking it up and putting it in a dumpster unless you need a door stop.... ;D


seriously, they are not worth the hassle over, nothing really exciting in them.  their upside is it says focus rite which is not the focus rite people really want.  Best to avoid the headaches.

I had issues with a pot in a similar unit (same range, different type). bad solder joint on the master volume pot due to poor mechanical design.

I kind of liked that stuff back in the old days. cheap in comparison to the other focusrite ranges, but they had a suitable feature range for me at least.
