I built this as a straight tube regulator, but it would not track as tightly as I'm used to with my sandstate designs so I beefed up the gain of the error amp with active loading which represents a very high plate resistance while sourcing a predetermined current through the zener which negates the need for the "current setting resistors" normally associated with this design. And the linearity of the stage is better since it's not being run in the usual current starved mode.

Then again everything is debatable so.... all critique are welcomed.

BTW...450V in and a very stable 240V out. Those in the know probably realize which classic design I'm messing with.
