Hi

Finally finishing off my first project, the s800. I just have one quick question about power switches in general.

Is it ok to use the on-on mini toggle switch that came with the audio maintenance kit for the power switch?

I read elsewhere that mini toggle switches should be avoided for power situations. Said something along the lines of them not being suitably insulated.

Cheers!

Look at the rating for the switch. There are also safety concerns about spacing between hot conductors and ungrounded conductive parts. A UL approved switch rated for the mains voltage, and capable of switching the in-ruch current should be OK.

I have used them many time for different projects, but never had a problem with them!
It could be that the spacing of the contacts is not according to the norm, but I am still alive...
The guy who once sold me one said that I could not use them to switch an inductive load (transformer), but the same switch is still working 20 years later! (Switching a 200 VA transformer.)
