What about an RTA where the octave can be adjusted, like on the REW RTA?
Whatever it does, the RTA BW is always added to the filter's BW. AFAIK RTA's don't go beyong 1/48th octave, so yes, it will show an approximation of the response of a 1/3 octave EQ. It all depends on what you expect.
For me, it was just an attempt at seeing if the controls were actually doing what they were supposed to be doing.
I understand that. However, if you have REW, it's as easy to do a sweep and more accurate.
Couldn't really tell using just a scope.
A scope is not the best instrument for assessing frequency response.

Once I get all the right parts in place, I'll test everything with sweeps.
