tube power supply question..

if i wanted to put a bypass switch on a output stage of a tube amp, can i just switch off the "A" supply (the one that usually goes to the center tap on the output tranny) . This would leave the "b" supply on the grid2 of the tubes .
is that a bad idea?

You mean a stand-by switch?
Put a sw in the cathode.
