Hello GroupDIY

Please could anyone send a link to a product page for a replacement power switch for my Urei 1178. A part name/number or anything that can help me in my search would be great too (I realise I'm maybe lazy to asking for someone to do all the work for me!). I have enough soldering skill (albeit limited being more of a musician type) to replace it on my own.

Happy New Year!

Maybe one from this list?

do you have the old switch...?

you can measure bushing and other key details. Modern (this century) switches often have voltage/current ratings printed on them.

Hi JR,
Thanks for your reply!
I've posted some closeup pictures of the switch. It seems to say:

Carling Switches 65001
125Vac 8A (H) 6A
250 Vac 4A (H) 3A

Very common switch. You might even be able to find a replacement at a home store like Home Depot.

It's .25 inch diameter on the threaded shaft, which is a little less common than 3/8 inch, but certainly, wherever you live, Mouser has a division that can ship to you.

Buy a new switch that A) looks the same, B) fits, and C) has equal or higher current for your voltage.

Thanks for you reply, I'll contact Mouser directly and ask them.
Love this site!

It will be from the same family as the stereo / mono switch. There are lots of variations in the length of the toggle on that style of switch. If you stick to the same family you should get a good visual match between the two switches
