Hi!

I've bought a unibit for my drill press to maake holes for XLR connectors etc. Do you use oil when you drill with a unibit?

Morten

depends. if you plan on doing and highspeed or really thick cuts then use oil, if it's just sheetmetal then i wouldn't worry. also aluminum seems to cut the same if you use oil or not

Don't use you hand to hold the part! alway clamp the part to the table.

Unibits can/will grab in some metals and slice you real bad.

oh heck yeah Gus is right! i got a nice one from a peice of brass sheet. i scrubbed the blood from the desk/floor for a week..

EDIT: OH AND GLOVES WILL NOT PROTECT YOU FROM SHEETMETAL from the force of the drill and the sharpness of the metal. I speak from experience..

 :guinness:

Don't wear gloves when using the drill press! If the bit catches some leather, you could be in trouble. Specially with a big press.

To keep burrs from getting long, put a small piece of cardbord on the drill where the fluted part meets the round shank. This will peel off the burrs at regular intervals. More effective with alluminum though.
