Hi there, apologies but I have to confess this is as much personal curiosity as it is a practical concern. I have a Zoom H5 recorder which as many of you are probably aware is capable of four track recording. I have a matching pair of stereo microphones that terminate in a 3.5mm plug. The XY module of the H5 has a 3.5mm input port which supports PIP and stereo, so no problem there. However, what would I need to do if I wanted to distribute a similar microphone across the two XLR input ports at the bottom of the device?

I have a VXLR+ which converts an XLR Phantom Powered Port to a 3.5mm PIP port. If I plug into this then only one of the two microphones in the stereo pair work. This makes sense as each input only supports Mono in my understanding. Is there a combination of accessories that would let me safely power and use both microphones across the two inputs?

For example, maybe a stereo to 2 x Mono splitter like this?

After which would I need 2 x VXLR+ to step phantom power down to PIP? One each for both mono inputs? Just 1 x VXLR+ and a 3.5mm to 6.35mm adapter jack? (Guessing this would cook one of the mics as you can only phantom power both inputs or neither).

Any advice or if further information is needed please do let me know. Thanks!
