Hi guys,

would some of you like to have a kit for the V72? I made a PCB (about 100x160mm) with many options on it. You can do the V72, V72s or a simple mod which allows you to switch between 25dB to 55dB of gain. A DI-Input is also available. It will take some time till it´s ready and i want to ask if there´s some interest before i do all the work.

Thanks

Well for me the best sounding iron is the one from Sowter. But i think the best would be to let the buyer decide what he wants. So you can get the PCB and all the onboard parts in a kit and the only thing you have to buy is a case and the iron. What do you think? I can post pics from my finished prototype when i get a good camera.

thanks

here is a site with wire data:

http://www.temcoindustrialpower.com/products/Magnet_Wire/MW0102.html

using 50 EI?

average turn length is: (see chart below)

7.09 cm /  2.54 = 2.7913 in per turn average,

2.7913 * 22,500 Turns = 62,805 in / 12 = 5,233 feet or about a mile.

from Tempco site:

Wire gauge (AWG) 42
Wire diameter (with insulation) (in) 0.0031
Wire diameter (no insulation) (in) 0.0025
Spool weight 1 lb.
Length (ft) 48841
Feet per pound 48841

48,841 / 5,233 = 9.33 coils per 1 lb spool,

30$ per spool / 9 = $3.33 per coil copper cost.

i am using 625 EI for more bass and less distortion so wire length is more per coil.

Thanks cj. Scum-bag brain forgot to convert inches to feet, so i was looking for a 70k ft spool. I might try one on ei50 and another on 625, since i have both.

Ok guys, i start with the documentation and all that stuff.

I hope the kits will be ready in about a month.

I think a kit with the onboard components would be best.

I have a new option on the board to switch between the original V72/V72s to a variable gain mod.
Now i just need a pad and phantom power. Any ideas?

Pictures of my prototype follow after the musikmesse.

Cheers

It's a kit à la Drip Electronics, isn't it? I hope it will less expensive than those!
DI input and phase switch could be cool too.

best,

ben
