This pair hurts....a lot to pick up.  Seem mostly useless for audio I'll ever employ.  I'm certain these are homebrew HAM radio transmitter supplies.  I gotta do something with them; make them go away or strip down for useful parts.  Ideas?  Takers?  1616 rectifier tubes.  Smaller (860V-0-860V power sec) is easily 40 lbs, larger dual supply easily 80 lbs (1150-0-1150V sec on one of two PT's).  I hate to call them scrap metal...

Smaller one, blank front rack panel:

They do look awesome on the floor of my basement in the way.  Even more awesome to move.

Those won't sell for anything approaching the hassle of shipping them, especially when people see the shipping cost.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.  No one's drinking it, or cutting it open.  Not leaking.  Will work forever unless it rusts through.  Right after the lead paint on my house and the asbestos coated wiring in all the vintage broadcast equipment everyone loves so much.

Relax, sport.

I simply wanted you to be aware of what you had, in case you weren't.

And I don't disagree with you in principle, as I have many, and a couple of them ARE leaking around the terminals, the seals get old. Bagged for containment, until I figure out what the hell to do with them.

You might want to check around the terminals on yours.

For years I had a pretty rainbow in my yard from oil that leaked out of my mains transformer when Hurricane Katrina dropped my power pole into the yard. This was even after the power company came and dug up a couple cubic yards of dirt from my lawn that they took along with the old transformer and broken pole.

> how many amps of that 860V-0-860V?

The rectifiers found with it are only good for ~~100mA each.

The supply is probably choke-input.

I figure not much over 800V 220mA DC. Which is not even 200 Watts DC, so not even 100 Watts sine Audio output.

You can toss-up a 100W Fender/Marshall at MUCH lower weight.

Sounds about right, yeah, choke input.  I always assumed this was the driver amp PSU, larger one the final amp.
