I drew out this schematic from photos found on Reverb.com of the schem on the inside panel of a Signal Corps. AM-186. This was originally the Western Electric 1126-C and apparently the Signal Corps. changed the design but possibly only in the tube regulator circuit (not shown). Any input or corrections are most welcome!
And as for the design, this limiting amp seems to achieve one of the fastest attack times amongst other ancient wave-squashers. I guess the cathode followers feeding the sidechain help somewhat as well as the sidechain cap being smaller than other designs. One thing that is puzzling me however is the split inductor to ground preceeding the grids of the second stage. Can someone more knowledgeable shed some light on this and it's purpose?
