I believe its that the v71 doesn't have the powesupply in the chassie where the v72 does Wil

Ollie.

Never nind, I will call him myself.

Be back with the info in two days. You watch.

from tab funkenwers web site quote:
The V71 was only made by Malotki and was a half size Danner module (without power supply) that incorporated the V72 circuit. The gain could be set with a resistor from 19 to 43 dB and needed an external N52 power supply

Darn, Wilebee! Scooped again.

From Ollie:

What is the difference between a V71S and V72S? Thanks!

There was no historic V71S, the V71 was a V72 without a power supply, so you
needed a very large power x-former to run them....
The new V71DI is a V72 without an input x-former for simple instrument
amplification, I changed the feedback to get a higher dynamic range for Bass
and Guitar...

Best regards,

Oliver

 Good one Wilebee!

Oh. doh on me, Wile bee.

Lil slow today. someone must have swapped me out for decaf.

Is it difficult to modify a historic V72 for DI use doing the above quoted without messing it up too much?
(edit begin) to be more precise, can I feed the grid of the first stage EF804 with my guitar signal directly, or will I need some input resistors for that?(edit end)

I use my V72 for bass, with a DI box in front of it, now I am racking it and was wondering if I should use a separate DI circuit (ss active or transformer) outside the unit or modify the V72.

Thanx for any suggestions...
