IDC means "insulation displacement connector," where the ribbon cable is pressed into little prongs that stick out of the back of the connector body. The cable connector body is female.

The connector on the board is the (male) header. You can get them with or without the ejector latches (nice to have if you remove the cables often), and with or without the shroud (the box that surrounds the pins).
