SO I called a company asking for support. We had some issues. Their response was stellar, "we will send out new units to replace. They even balked at me returned the units with a fault for repair or some sort of swap.
That is so cool.

This has been happening for years in some product categories.

Several years ago I had an almost new dehumidifier fail. They sent me a brand new one and only required that I destroy/remove the serial number from the original unit. I still have the broken unit in storage to use for repair parts.

The still rising shipping costs have a lot to do with this, and crazy low manufacturing cost (probably in China).

When my sump pump controller failed last year or so, they just sent me a new one. When the second controller also failed I just decided to repair it. The same transistor failed short circuit in both units. I replaced the bad transistor with a higher voltage device I had laying around in my back lab. The controller has been working flawlessly ever since. I told them what the weak link is in their design but no response.
