just grab some heavy cardboard and cut up some fishin line and you can make a DIY whisker disc,

used to pre-tension magnet wire before it goes to the regular tension device,

use heavy fishin line for heavy wire, and light line for small gauge stuff,

works great, all the force is sideways so you do not need to fasten it to the spool, just use a center bolt for a little weight,

these disks also keep the wire from falling off the spool,

you can see the real deal here at this link, they only want 7 or 8 bucks a pop but shipping is 12 wtf, over?  :eek:

cheap is another word for DIY so jus sayin...
