Hello everyone.

At first I tell that I'm very newbie DIYer so please don't shoot me without warnings

I found Curtis XS902 project few weeks ago and intrested to design PCB that fits in my DBX900 lunchbox. After couple not so cool designs I desided to change op-amps order from schema for easier/better :?: PCB design.

Here is cross reference list of op-amps.
XS902 - XS902LB
IC1A - U1B
IC1B - U2B
IC2A - U6B
IC2B - U1A
IC3A - U3A
IC3B - U3B
IC6A - U8B
IC6B - U6A
IC8A - U8A
IC8B - U2A

edit:
All pots and switches are planned to connect with cables and soldering pins.

Because this is my first PCB design ever I'm asking some comments and opinions for it before I'll make first prototypes.

And finally here is PDF's of my design.

YES!! You're my hero! Haven't looked at the board in detail but I was REALLY hoping he 902 would be made into a real 902 form factor.

What did you do this layout in and would you mind sharing it? I have some 900 projects on perfboard that I'd like to make nice PCBs for. One of the harder things I found using PCB design software was getting the edge fingers right.

Thanks!

Hi Paavo,

Nice work there, good to see you persisted with your layout :thumb:

I haven't had time to go over it with a fine-toothed comb as yet. My only suggestion is that perhaps any component that connects directly to the big copper ground area be done with thermal reliefs. Makes it a bit easier to solder for those of us with under-powered irons.

I updated PDF's. Now there is thermal pads in ground plane.

I made desing with kicad opensource software. Your able to download project archive here. Package contains one custom library "omat" ("owns" in finnish)

These edge fingers (or what ever they are) have caused some sleepless nights for me too. Copper layer only will not last too long in contacting purposes. I suppose I'll just cover the copper with tin and polish them with fine sandpaper.

Hi Paavo, I'm wondering if you have tested the final drawings for it. It doesn't look like anything has happenned with Curtis' project so I'm thinking about making yours, since I do have a DBX 900 rack.  are these pdf's up to date and tested?
I'd have to get an emulator and install windows on my Mac in order to use the Kicad stuff...
Thanks
Kelly

Hi there.

Unfortunaly I haven't had time to make prototype and due that couldn't test it.
I've planned to make first prototype during this spring.

Cool Paavo, I was  just checking, Curtis and Ptown's board doesn't exist yet either. I have a template to make an adapter card for the DBX 900 that I know works and fits, I might try Curtis' board and just jumper it up to fit the 900 using photoshop or something.
Then again, that might be too much for now also. Sometimes this DIY stuff just sits there and takes months to get at.
cheers
Kelly
