Here it is...

Your chance to recommend to me the ultimate software for MIDI composing and WAV recording.

I have been using Adobe Audition for a long time now, but I'm frustrated that I can't do any MIDI sequencing, recording, or modulating in Audition.

I already have the (PC) computer and the interface, I just need to find some good software.

Act now and be part of the history of my studio's transition to a software (PC) that will seamlessly integrate MIDI and audio.

  Anyone?

Reaper (freebie) Cubase, Sonar, Pro Fool...use them all. They all sound and work different. I use them according to the song and desired workflow.

I'd go for reaper too if you don't need extreme midi capacities ( I don't really know what that means actually, as i just do notes, volume and control changes, but some people seem to think it's the weak part of reaper). It's incredibly easy to use. I've been using it for two months and I really swear by it. It's got all that was lacking in my cubase (effects drag and drop, flexible routing, descriptive cpu load, and a lot of other things I still haven't stumbled upon), it's also got a lot of things I have no use for, but I don't know why, they never get in the way like they did on other software.
It's not really a freebie per se, it is a "unlimited demo with no time limits", you can buy the license that is very cheap (or not and use it for years without paying).
Well, enough praise for today.

(PS: no, i don't work for cockos software)

3.2MB? Free?

I don't know if this will help, but I like the "Piano Roll" arranging in Fruity Loops, the patch and modulation versatility of Reason, and the multitracking & routing of Adobe Audition.

Anyone tried Audition 3? I hear that it's a monster memory-wise.

Reaper also but from pillar to post Samplitude Pro is on at at 499.00 at audiomidi http://www.audiomidi.com/Samplitude-10-Pro-P10234.aspx half price. Check out the mastering cd video post at Samps website if you need in depth info
