Igor, You are my hero. Very Nice!

What is the device in your workshop that looks like a mag-light and PVC pipe?

Hehe...you mind 60w medical laser outlet? Use this for laser-engr.
If they sound like they look...
They sounds even better;))
I don't like sound of VaryMoo, but wery liked sound of
original EAR660, it is a way cleaner, lows less distorted...
Still not compared with original, but was wery impressed from silky,
clean, but very punchy sound.
I spent about 2 weeks on in/out trunny's design,
input wound on ui-31 superperm magmet lams,
and out wound on ei-625 80% Ni Japanese permalloy...
changed a bit VCA as well, to use 5670 instead of ecc189,
reason is imho 5670 sounds better in vca, and it have excellent balance beetween triodes...
Problem with this tube is gr curve in normal vca connection, it is sharp cutoff...but somehow, it works fine in cascode vca.
I got -10v/12db GR, it is more convinient for SS sidechain, anyway, used
same sidechain like in EAR schematic.

Igor: looks fantastic! Inspiring to see, I wish I could find some cool looking scrap boxes like that.

There was a thread sometime ago about a comercial unit using cascoded gain reduction stage...
