Apologies if my presumption that you see this as a problem is incorrect!

While Al Jazera has a reputation of not being friendly to the US, they are also not friendly to some of the dictatorships in the region too, so another voice in the region to listen to and weigh to triangulate in on news events. Of course all of this english language targeted programming coming from outside the US has to be taken with a grain of salt. But IMO better to see it all and then decide for yourself, not let others decide for us.
Yup, I find it remarkable how much news goes on in the world that does not get reported here. We have multiple 24/7 news channels and they manage to only cover a small handful of the same stories that they repeat ad nausem.rob_gould said:JohnRoberts said:After the Arab spring a lot of Americans have searched out Al Jazera news reports to get information closer to the source (there is (was) an Al Jazera news report on Link TV already). Absolutely. Al Jazeera is much less UK / USA-centric than any other news agency. It covers different stories that perhaps Western news agencies deem less important, at least to their viewing figures. Whether they're actually less important I'm not so sure.
Al Jazeera is another outlet to get a second (or third, or whatever) view on the same stories that we hear from news agencies closer to home. It's also a good place to learn about new that is less well publicised through the normal outlets.
Of course, as with anything you see or hear (on the news or otherwise!) interpret what's being said carefully and read between the lines. I'm not suggesting for a second that, like any news agency, they don't have an agenda.
