Doubt about the G-Pultec

Hello my friends,

I´m thinking to build a gyraf pultec EQP1. I have a doubt (newbie one)... something that I would like to understand better.

Why this project uses two voltage transformers and the second loads the circuit with 220v AC?  I would like to understand it coz it´s the first time I see something like that.

A Valve (tube) needs a low voltage power supply for its heaters, normally 6.3v or 12.6v.  It also needs a H.T (high tension) supply which can be a few hunderd volts.  The second mains transformer in the GPultec is used to supply this HT voltage in a safe form that is isolated from the mains power.  It is also quite a cheap ay to suplly the é voltages because it uses off the shelf trasformers.
