Thanks for describing your technique! I was wondering what the "motor" is? is it the term for what is under the diaphragm? Many thanks.
Yes. The motor is the magnet, so the piece where the diaphragm is mounted.

You also asked for foam: I live in Europe, so I don‘t know where you could get some perfect foam that is up to specs with the original one. I also don‘t care too much and always use something very light and airy, so I get the maximum high end response out of a mic, even if its not 100% original. So I use this:

For dxample: in a 545 I use two layers of it. Probably gets close to only one layer of the original foam…
