Passive Monitor Controller Attenuator

I am planning on building this passive monitor controller (http://www.audiotechnology.com.au/wp/index.php/on-the-bench-diy-monitor-controller/) and was wondering if there is any issue replacing the pot in this project with a Goldpoint 2 channel (not 4) stepped attenuator (V24-2-10K)? I am not familiar with how the attenuation is accomplished in this circuit, so confirmation before I buy a $165 pot is much appreciated.
