I was listening to isolated tracks of America's Horse With No Name , sounded interesting, wondered if it was a Pye, sounds kind of like Cat Stevens,

looked up the track, sure enough, Morgan Studio had a couple of Pye's and a couple of 1176,

Does this sound like a Pye?
What's with the phase artifacts? Maybe some flanging from multi tracking.

I wonder, is that an actual multitrack, or is it some kind of Frankenstein that's been created, maybe using Melodyne DNA?
Anyone here, have the experience with Melodyne to know if that is a possibility?

This is great and I'd like to know as well. This recording stood out to me even as little kid. I've read they used c12a on the guits, but don't recall hearing about the compressor

It dies sound like there are some artifacts from the isolation software but the original recording sounds like there us some magic compression going on.

There is intersample latency on PYE compressors when used in parallel according to my friend POM who builds them. Surely that can’t be the cause on those old records?

I have listened really quick but it feels like the aliasing is mostly present when the vocals quick in, so I’d vote for an IA / digital tool rather than a clean multitrack transfer. Note that the tracks sound exactly like the final mastered version, too. Regarding compression I have no clue, but it does not sound over compressed too me, it’s pretty elegant.
Inter sample latency when used parallel ? What ? Like any hardware insert in the digi world ?

edit : I checked it out on my monitors and I have the same feeling. Everything is phasey, drum cymbals, bass... def sounds like some IA work or Melodyne or other dig sorcery.

It definitely has that same sound. The Morgan acoustic guitar sound. If they were using Pye's all the time, could very well be them on guitar. They sound great on acoustic guitar imo.
