Hi all.
I've just finished my JLM Audio Vu-meter http://www.jlmaudio.com/shop/index.php?_a=viewProd&productId=19 and they are working perfectly. But... when it comes to calibrate the meters correctly I'm pretty lost.
As in the Shure article http://shure.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1889/~/how-to-calibrate-a-vu-meter%3F I have to solder a 600 Ohm resistor across the terminals (2-3 on the XLR) to get accurate level from my computers freq.generator. 1,23V at 1kHz across the 600 Ohm resistor would get the 0dB required for the measurement.
My multimeter reads 1,23V AC and when I connect the meter I can calibrate it to 0dB. But should I desolder the resistor first before connecting the meter? The difference is ca: 1dB.
