Guys,

This may be a strange question buy I?m rather perplexed about this one...

I have a pair of OEP transformers I?m planning on using to wire up a pair of
Spectra Sonics 101 cards.

I bought the transformers and the optional mu-metal screening can. I?ve
soldered the can on and made sure that the ground/screen pin is soldered to
the can as well and not floating.

I want to mount these trano upside down on the chassis and cable tie it
down...

The problem now is that if I do that the metal can will be grounded to the
chassis via the screening can. Do I then still need to ground pin 1 (screen)
to my grounding point, or am I then double grounding and opening myself up
to loops and possible hum.

Is it better to mount the tranos with double sided tape, avoiding ground the
can to the chassis and then just using the screening pin?

Any advise would be much appreciated

Cheers

Matt

Probably i'll go for mounting them insulated from the chassis and then i'll run a wire from pin1 (OEP ground) to the star ground.

This would be like we use to mount them on pcb's, and you can be sure you won't have ground loops or things grounded 2 times.

...but I may be wrong.

Cheeeeeeers my friend :guinness: :green:
