Hi,

I'd like to know before doing some Mistakes How I can Associate XLR and JACK for Inputs and Outputs on G9 and SSL.
In fact I have to use STEREO JACK connector, and I connect the TIP to PIN 2 (HOT) of XLR, RING to PIN 3 (COLD) and SLEEVE to Pin 1(GROUND) of the XLR.

Is it RIGHT?

Or DO I have to Use a Switch to disconnect cable from JACk when I use only XLR?

I know that is a dumb questions...

Sorry,
I wrote my msg in French.
So, for xlr+jack input and output, you can wire the both in //
Your description is right for wiring, you can insert a selector if you want...

Bruno.

It wasn't aimed at you
The reply by user b2 was (I think) in French - subsequently edited

As you may already know, Neutrik (and others?) make "combo" jacks that allow 1/4" and xlr in the same physical jack.

http://www.neutrik.com/images/ock/products/downloads/210_240841.pdf

That won't help if you need both at the same time in parallel, but if you only need one at a time it could be cheaper, easier, and neater.

Maybe we should write in mandarin or cantonese here if this statement is important?

Ok You right, there are the Combo from neutrick but I can use it only at the inputs because usually we use XLR MALE connector for output.

I'am wondering if It's really important... to use both.
I have to think if it's really useful...

DO the G9 and SSL' outputs are LOW IMPEDANCE OR HIGH IMPEDANCE??
I think it's line outputs so high impedance..

I think I will buy 4 combos for Each Inputs of the G9 and SSL

and for the ouputs, I will Buy XLR male and JACK Female.

thanks

I think it's line outputs so high impedance..

Inputs are 44 KOhm, when balanced, referring to gnd. 22K when unbalanced, referred to gnd.

Outputs are 200 Ohms, balanced. If running outputs into unbalanced equipment, leave -out (cold) floating, and then you have 100 Ohms output impedance.

thanks gyraf  , so what Do you advise me to take for these combo Connector for Outputs :

- XLR/JACK MONO SWITCHING

- XLR/JACK STEREO NON SWITCHING

or XLR/JACK STEREO SWITCHING?

Hi,
If your intention is using the G9 for mic and instrument, combo XLRF/jack should be NCJ9xxtype (with jack normalling). Using XLRF (female) for the output isn't common nowdays. I prefer separate connectors.

Milan

Do they make combo jacks with the pins in the right direction?

Also, if you used combo jacks, I think you would need a switch to lift pin 3 as well as a 15k 27k switch.

I would consider using unbalanced 1/4" jacks and just jumping them to the xlrs.

I plan on doing this when I build my 2 GSSLs... next on my "bench"

Yes You have right.....

I will put Separate connector on the G9 and put maybe Combo on my inputs of my SSL.
