Hi folks:

Looks like Panasonic is discontinuing the ECQ-P series of polypropylene film capacitors. No direct replacements, either; the suggested replacements (ECQ-F) are, in fact, metallized polypropylene, not film-and-foil. Not that metallized is necessarily horrible, but...

Pfui. Those were decent caps at a good price.

Peace,
Paul

The BC components 1% Film / Foil caps (latterly branded Vishay) were also discontinued a while ago. It's becoming very difficult to find decent caps for tuning duties - something I've been swearing about for some weeks now.

The replacement for the Vishay / BC has a quoted MOQ of 6,000 units - not funny if you need several values, and it's metallised PP, not FF.

Is there such a thing as a decent-sounding 1% cap for tuning duties? I know of 5% caps that are good, but they're large.
