I have built a tube microphone, based of akg c60 schematic. But all this mic does is hums, i've worked on it forever and can't find the problem.
When i remove the grid to cathode bias resistor, 180M ohms, it starts producing sound, but still is quite bad sounding.
Anyone have ideas?

More info needed: Schematic, actual parts, pictures.

Make sure to entirely shield the electronics, e.g. with a cage of (grounded) wire mesh - otherwize all you'll hear is hum.

For schematic, just google akg c60 schematic, i dont know how to post here.
Parts, 5703 tube, in place of the ac701.
