Hey guys,

I'm finally building a Gyraf G7. I have two CAD Trion 6000 mics that are broken and a dual diaphragm Chinese C12 style edge terminated capsule I'm not using for anything else. I also have access to as many NOS tubes as I can be bothered trying out because I'm mates with the guy who supplies Beez Neez with their NOS tubes  ;)

So here's my question, is the Lundahl LL1538 transformer absolutely necessary for the build? I have a stock transformer salvaged from my old Trion 6000 or I could use a Cinemag CM2480. Will I notice a night and day difference between either of the transformers I now have and the Lundahl LL1538?

Thanks guys!!!

Kris

I've seen G7's built with all sorts of transformers, and it seems that just about any good-quality microphone input transformer will do fine in this circuit - if it has a ratio of between 1:6 and 1:12.
