I just got a Neve 54 in yesterday. It looks good and sounds great. I have one channel that seems to be acting up. I replaced all the 5534's, cleaned all the switches, pots and fader. A few of the caps are a little bloated so I am left with the option of recapping the module. The electrolytic's are an old Phillips metal type cap.

The sizes are pretty standard. But I am not sure how picky to get with brand name or if there is any problem with just using normal Panasonic or BC caps. The problem could be described simply as a loss of frequency. It sounds like a high pass filter is on the circuit. Not a lot of audible distortion. The circuit is constant and isn't intermittent.

In most other consoles I wouldn't be as woried but this definately has that old Neve sound that I don't want to screw with too much

Thanks for the help,

Steve
