The title says it all:
I tried to open a 'new' AKG C414 (with the LEDs).
I removed the screw in the XLR connector and tried to unscrew the two slotted torx screws in the bottom.
I felt a lot of friction while rotating them.
I expected that after taking out the bottom screws, I could slide out the interior, as with previous versions of the C414.
But unfortunately there are no bottom screws that come out!
Do they use a special locking mechanism? Who knows more about this?

I will answer my own question...
No, there is no special locking mechanism.
The bottom screws needed a lot of force to remove them, and there was a lot of friction to turn them.
That made me think that there was more going on than 'just two screws'...
In general I don't like to apply too much force, as long as I don't know what I am doing.
So: problem solved!

The real problem was a bad contact in the connectors inside the C414.
Cleaned the contacts and now the microphone is working again.
