If you are not looking to have a Neve type of sound, and if you want fast transient response.

Why the hell are you using a pcb for 1290 that is a Neve type circuit?

If you want something different than Neve use a different circuit it's simple enough.

why don't you build and Api312 or SSL9K type of preamp?
it seems more towards what you want
