Hey guys,

I'm looking for a good quality 1:5 mic input transformer for this mic-pre I'm making. I want to test a bunch of them out, so I'm wondering if you guys have any recommendations. I want relatively high level handling, and overall good specs. I also want it to cost pennies

Anyway, here's what I have so far:

Cinemag CMMI-5C ($56.29 + shipping)
Lundahl LL1578XL ($69.00 + shipping)
Jensen JT-13K7-A ($101.85 + shipping)
S & B 829 (£25/$46.33 + £25/$47 shipping to the US... OUCH!)
Sescom MI-103 ($112.25 + shipping)

Has anyone used these? Comments? Do you know of any other ones that I might want to check out?

Thanks!

Peace,
Al.

The kind owners of this web site - are sowter dealers in the US
It doesn;t seem they have that item in stock - but you can always ask...

OK, Prodigy doesn't stock it right now, but they might in the near future (next year).

Im using 1578's in my jlm 99v pre, sounds awesome. Havent put a different transformer in there to compare, but Im really happy with it. It sounds really good at 1:10 too, really forward.

I've listenned to a pile of 1:5's over the years. I gotta say, I keep coming
back to the Jensens. JT13K7-A.

It seems to me to have the best overall balance of low end performance, low mid band distortion and smooth non exagerated high end. Only real disadvantage is they are pretty proud of it, and price accordingly.
