1/8" to 4mm shaft

If it is a round shaft, and you need to do just a few, 20-25 turns of about 0.016" copper wire wound very tightly around the shaft will build it up about right.

If you need a lot of them, order up some tension springs with an I.D. a bit smaller than 1/8" that will press and twist onto the shaft, and cut the ends off. Or better yet, one really long tension spring and cut it into sections.

A piece of #16 ga, 7-strand wire that I just mic'd has 0.015" strands, seems close enough.

Thanks guys. I should have mentioned that my Pots use two tiny screws to their  side for tightening. So the spring Methode wont work im afraid. I did find some 3mm to 4mm. They are Open on one side, so maybe i can fit them on.
 
I'm in a similar situation and found this

its 4mm metal tubing which has a inner diameter of ~3.25mm which is very close to 1/8" size

I bought some and it fits well. You can also buy a tube cutter from the same brand, the only issue is when you cut the tube the cut end becomes smaller than 3.125mm so you have to work with it to get it onto the shaft

Thanks. These Look promising. Is it model 9872 you are Talking about? I guess one could use a steel saw for cutting....?

yep, I also bought the variants in aluminum and brass to see if there were any differences, they were all exactly the same in size. The copper appears to be the most malleable of the 3 so when you tighten the collet on the knob it grips well

A hack saw would work I think and probably wouldn't result in the issue I noted before. However my situation involves making over 300 little tubes so I'm trying to work out a quick way to do it and if it is even worth it for these knobs i want to use  :eek:
 
I will see if I have some stock left and report back. as long as I don't have to machine a flat across it it should be doable in an hour or so (after cleaning by work bench) :p

That would be amazing. My Knobs should arrive tomorrow i let you know about the lenght then. Thanks a lot
 
OK, I tested this. using 4mm stock is not bad, but is still was trial and error before I got it right.  the 1/8 drill likes to get stuck into the brass and parting was also tricky.
