Anybody have any plans or ideas for a 1 input-4 output matrix switcher? I want to take one mic input and switch it between four different outputs. Can I simply wire in up to a 3-pole, 4 position switch? Are there physicsie things I need to worry about, or is it a simple point-to-point?

Thanks
Mario

Yes. A good rotary switch will do the trick fine, but better make it really good - don't use a Lorlin type switch here.

Simple point-to-point is fine too. Use a good, shielded box.. and if you want to go fancy, use shielded cable inside.

You don't want to switch pin 1/shield. Pin 1 at each I/O XLR should tie directly to the chassis via the shortest possible piece of wire.

For best results, use an 8 pole, 4 position switch. Each output gets two poles (one for each signal line), and is wired so that the output jack is shorted between pins 2 and 3 when NOT in use.

Thanks guys,

That is great information and just what I needed to know. Does anyone out there have drawings/plans for such a device? What make of switch would work the best here?

Thanks,

Mario
