Hi

Not sure I understand the datasheet right; my footprint ([removed]) has the top left pad as pin 1. Is that right?

If that is the view from the component side, yes, the top left is pin 1. Although it doesn't mater too much because the pins are mirrored (pin1,7 drain, pin2,6 gate, pin3,5 source) so you can't go wrong.

And JFETs are usually even forgiving of swapping the nominal source lead for the nominal drain lead. The exception is sometimes for very low Crss parts---there's enough of an asymmetry to matter.
