Very nice boxes. Well made and they come apart easily if you want to send the panels out to be engraved/drilled, etc. These are the ones Jakob lists on his part list for the G1176.

be careful of the middle atlantic CH series. the pieces interlock in a somewhat inconvenient way. you have to remove at lest the back panel to remove the top. and there are little lips that tuck under the "U" of the front panel on the top and bottom, which reduces the inside clearance by maybe 1/4". just look at the specs carefully.

but they are great boxes. built like a tank. haven't used the EC series yet, but i want to.

With all due respect, you can remove the top and bottom panels WITHOUT removing the back panel. Remove several screws and the top and bottom lids slide back and come right off.

True but I found it to be a non issue. They are built like a tank and they are cosmetically appealing because the faceplate doesn't have extra holes for mounting to the chasis.

Question about the Middle Atlantic Chassis...

is the height of the sides (i.e. the height of the body of the enclosure) slightly smaller than the height of the front panel? It doesn't look like it from the pictures.
The reason I ask is I'm wondering if PCB mounting screws have enough clearance so they don't scrape what ever is below when placed in the rack.

They will scrape. I used screws that were flush with the bottom to avoid this.

i'll have to try that. maybe the day i was putting it together i was mechanically retarded and didn't figure that out.

The par-metal boxes lose about a 1/4" as well don"t they? Let me look...
yes: 1.42" from top to bottom on the par-metal.
